Who Owns AEW Wrestling?

In 2019, All Elite Wrestling, LLC (AEW) is an American professional wrestling promotion founded in Jacksonville, Florida. The company’s CEO and president is Tony Khan, who is also the owner of the Premier League football club Fulham F.C.

What Is AEW Wrestling?

AEW was founded in 2019 by Khan, his brothers Shahid and Tariq, and Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson), after the dissolution of their prior promotions, Ring of Honor (ROH) and New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s (NJPW) joint United States promotion, known as The Elite. AEW has been described as having a more “old school” feel than WWE’s modern product.

AEW’s flagship show, Dynamite, debuted on October 2, 2019, and airs every Wednesday night on TNT. The show features male and female wrestlers and is currently averaging 1.4 million weekly viewers.

Acquisitions Of Top Stars

The company has also signed a number of former WWE wrestlers, including Chris Jericho, PAC, Dustin Rhodes/Goldust, Rey Fenix, and Lance Archer. AEW also has partnerships with various wrestling promotions around the world, such as New Japan Pro-Wrestling, Impact Wrestling, and AAA.

In May 2020, AEW launched its women’s division, with Riho winning the inaugural AEW Women’s World Championship. The company has since signed a number of top female wrestlers, including Britt Baker, Nyla Rose, Hikaru Shida, Kris Statlander, Big Swole, and Penelope Ford.

AEW has been lauded for its inclusive approach to professional wrestling, with many of its wrestlers coming from diverse backgrounds. The company has also been praised for its treatment of women’s wrestling, which is often given equal billing to men’s matches on Dynamite and other AEW shows.
