Kutter Crawford Placed On 15-Day IL
According to Ian Browne of MLB.com, Red Sox right-handed pitcher Kutter Crawford was put on the 15-day injured list on Friday due to a left hamstring strain.
After leaving Wednesday’s game against Toronto due to hamstring tightness, Crawford was initially regarded as day-to-day, but his injury now appears to be more serious than originally believed.
The right-hander has been effective in his bullpen duties this year, managing a 3.51 ERA in 25 2/3 innings. And has even looked to have found a role as an innings eater out of the bullpen, capable of going 4-5 innings if needed.
Kaleb Ort Recalled From Worcester
Crawford will be replaced in Boston’s bullpen by Kaleb Ort, who will be called up from Triple-A Worcester.
Kaleb Ort broke camp with the Red Sox and has struggled out of the bullpen this season, pitching to a 7.30 ERA in 12 1/3 innings. As a result, he was optioned on April 30 to the WooSox. But due to the Crawford injury, Ort will have a second chance to try and stick with the big club.
