Rebounding Drills To Improve Your Game

Drill 1: Box-Out Drill

This drill teaches players how to box out their opponents when going for a rebound. You’ll need two cones about four feet apart to set up the drill. Then, have two players line up on either side of the cones, with one starting in the middle.

The player in the middle will then try to get around the other two players to grab the rebound. The goal for the other two players is to box out their opponent and not let them get past them.

Drill 2: Tip Drill

This drill is great for teaching players how to go after loose balls. To set up the drill, you’ll need a group of three players and one basketball. One player will start at the free throw line, while the other two will be positioned at each elbow.

The player at the free throw line will then shoot the ball off the backboard and try to tip it in. The other two players will battle for the rebound. Whoever comes up with the ball will become the new shooter, and the other two players will rotate to the other side of the court.

Drill 3: Rebound Relay

This drill is great for teaching players how to rebound in traffic. You’ll need four cones around the key to set up the drill in a square. Then, have two teams of three players each line up behind one of the cones.

One player from each team will start with a basketball at the free-throw line. The other two players on their team will be positioned near the baseline at each corner of the key. The player with the ball will shoot, and the other two will go after the rebound.

Whoever gets the rebound will then outlet pass it to their teammates, who will run to the other end of the key and take a shot. Meanwhile, the other team will do the same thing on the other side of the key. The first team to make ten baskets wins.
