How Are Bowling Balls Made?

Step 2: Adding Color
To give each bowling ball its unique look, dyes are added during manufacturing. These dyes can be added to the ball’s core or outer surface, depending on what type of color is desired. For example, if you want your bowling ball to have an interior swirl pattern, you would add dyes directly to the core.
On the other hand, if you want your ball to have an exterior gradient effect, you would add dyes directly to the outside surface of the ball.
Step 3: Finishing Touches
Once all of this is complete, it’s time for the finishing touches! The last step in making a bowling ball involves sanding down any rough edges or imperfections and then polishing it up with wax or oil to look just right when finished. Some manufacturers will also use clear coatings or protective films on their balls in order to enhance durability and longevity.
